When everyone was discussing the coalition's mid-term audit last week, the words "renewing of vows" kept cropping up in relation to the Lib Dems and Tories coming together to reappraise their relationship and be that much stronger for it in this second half of their term. I could immediately see a gag panel cartoonist using this phrase for a cheap laugh (indeed, a quick google image search throws a couple up) so I wanted to take advantage of the half page I had and run with this conceit but have a little more fun with it. Take it darker. Be more damning and less flippant with the joke. Which led to this.
I'm feeling a lot more confident with drawing Cameron's likeness (helpful discovery: it's all about going from convex forehead to concave jaw) and was very happy with his expression in that final panel. The other likenesses were a little tougher and have varying degrees of success. From top left to bottom right they are: John Bercow, Vince Cable, Nick Clegg, William Hague, Iain Duncan Smith, George Osborne, David Cameron.
