Well, Hunt's made his decision and Kershaw's recommendations were all pretty much accepted with a slither of victory in the form of Lewisham A & E remaining in a vastly reduced capacity. It's disappointing news but the Save Lewisham Hospital continues undeterred.
I knew Hunt's decision would be going ahead on the day this comic came out so wanted to capture a sense of the march last Saturday without making it too time-sensitive. I wanted to celebrate the fun, family-friendly atmosphere and strong sense of community that I felt while there and I was able to do so without much exposition due to my earlier piece about Lewisham A & E two weeks ago (which can be read here).
I think this is the In The Frame I'm proudest of so far. The balance between text and images feels right and I'm definitely finding my voice/tone for the column. Each week I'm learning something new and I'm letting go of the temptation to fill the half page with text in an attempt to feel like a "proper journalist". Less is more. Especially when it comes to comics. Sometimes I need to be reminded of that.
